Carl Edvard Rudebeck is a specialist in general practice, lives in Västervik is Sweden, and is research supervisor in Kalmar county in Sweden and a professor in general practice at the Department for Community Medicine, University of Tromsø, Norway.

He has been a general practitioner in Sweden for many years, at the same time he has been a researcher, supervisor and much interested in the theoretical issues of general practice as a discipline. His particular topics of research and writing are intersubjectivity in the doctor–patient relationship, bodily experience and the professional competence of family medicine.
