Richard Roberts is Professor and past head of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health. A family physician and attorney, Dr Roberts has been since 1987 in a teaching practice in Belleville, a rural community. Professor Roberts is past President of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has consulted and taught on primary care redesign and health reform in many countries. He chairs the Primary Care and Emergency Medicine Advisory Board of United Health Group, the largest health insurance company in the United States.

He is a Fellow of the AAFP, the American College of Legal Medicine, the Royal College of General Practitioners (Hon), and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (Hon). He is an honorary member of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) and the Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine.
